The Love Supreme Jazz Festival is a 3 day greenfield jazz festival held in the first weekend of July in the stunning surroundings of Glynde Place in the beautiful South Downs in East Sussex.
It is the first full weekend camping jazz festival in the UK but also welcomes day-trippers and non-camping weekend visitors. The festival is approximately 20 minutes from Brighton and an hour and a half from central London by train or by car.
The festival launched in a sun drenched weekend in July 2013 and has hosted artists such as Van Morrison, Bryan Ferry, Chic ft Nile Rogers, Jamie Cullum, Hugh Masekela, Gregory Porter, Laura Mvula, Marcus Miller, Esperanza Spalding, Melody Gardot, Chaka Khan, Branford Marsalis, Robert Glasper, Snarky Puppy, Jools Holland, Earth, Wind and Fire, Courtney Pine and many others.
The festival was the brain child of former record executive Ciro Romano: "The idea was to meld those great European jazz festivals like North Sea Jazz, London Jazz Festival and Montreux with the culture of the UK camping music festivals like Latitude, Bestival or Green Man all of which I love. I felt there was a gap in the market for something which celebrated jazz, soul, funk and the mark it has on contemporary music and that there might be an audience out there who wanted more than chart fodder".
Love Supreme has 4 stages: The Main Stage which hosts headliners and more contemporary artists with a soul and funk lineage; The Big Top which hosts the cream of international and UK jazz artists; The Arena where you will find younger artists pushing the limits of what jazz, soul and funk is in the present day; and The Bandstand which has the best jazz in East Sussex and Brighton hosted by the Verdict Jazz Club.
DJs and club nights, talks and lectures, panels, classic album playbacks, films, dance classes, kids areas, VIP experiences, camping, and fairground... it’s an immersive musical weekend which has quickly built a loyal and dedicated following.
Love Supreme was co-founded by Jazz FM with support from Ingenious, Serious, Air PR, Universal Music, Peppermint, Larmac Live, Event, and Loud Sound.
